BtcTurk, Turkey’s oldest cryptocurrency exchange, has confirmed a security incident involving its hot wallets.

Blockchain security platform Cyvers has recorded unusual withdrawals of around $48 million across the Ethereum, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Mantle, and Polygon networks. Most of the funds were sent to two addresses and then exchanged for other assets.

The exchange reported that suspicious activity was discovered during routine inspections on August 14, 2025. As a precaution, cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals have been temporarily suspended while the investigation is ongoing.

BtcTurk assured customers that most assets are stored in cold wallets and remain safe. Deposits, withdrawals and trading in Turkish lira continue as usual.

Authorities have been notified and security measures have been put in place. The perpetrator continues to move and exchange the stolen assets, making recovery efforts extremely urgent.
