Truth Social, a social media platform owned by Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT), which is majority-owned by US President Donald Trump, is exploring the possibility of launching a cryptocurrency.
“As part of our rewards program, we are exploring the implementation of a utility token with the Truth digital wallet that will initially be used to pay for a Truth+ subscription and then applied to other products and services in the Truth ecosystem,” the company said in a letter to shareholders on Tuesday.
DJT showed little reaction to the news, with shares down 0.52% in after-hours trading.
The letter also highlights that the company is considering launching exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that would combine stocks and cryptocurrencies.
Over the years, Trump’s inner circle has released a variety of cryptocurrency products, including meme coins, NFT collections, and the DeFi protocol.
