Anton Gorelkin: Russian miners have a bad image | INFbusiness

Despite the legalization of cryptocurrency mining, Russian miners have developed an extremely negative image in society. This was stated by Anton Gorelkin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy and Communications, at the “Tsifra Prava” forum.

According to him, miners will now have to prove their activities are important to the national economy and mitigate the negative image they have. Gorelkin emphasized that the authorities will continue to regulate the mining industry, including by legalizing cryptocurrency exchange services.

“We need to bring crypto exchanges within the legal framework and protect the rights of citizens, the actors in this developing market,” Gorelkin explained.

The development of transparent regulations and the introduction of state control mechanisms will help reduce risks for investors looking to invest in the mining industry, the parliamentarian noted.

Earlier, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov announced at a plenary session of the State Duma that the department had begun compiling a registry of miners, and that 1,364 entities were already registered.
