SEC Drops Lawsuit Against Binance Exchange

SEC Drops Lawsuit Against Binance Exchange | INFbusiness

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance have reached an agreement to close the case.

The regulator and the exchange filed a document in the District of Columbia court to dismiss the litigation, which began in June 2023.

The agency then accused Binance, its founder Changpeng Zhao, and its units BAM Trading Services Inc. and BAM Management US Holdings Inc. of violating securities laws, mishandling client funds, and misleading users.

In February, Binance and the SEC filed a joint motion to halt the litigation for 60 days, citing the creation of a new cryptocurrency task force within the regulator as the reason.

Binance previously asked a Delaware court to dismiss a $1.76 billion lawsuit filed by the temporary administration of bankrupt exchange FTX.
