Cardano developers will conduct hardfork network in mid-December
IOHK software engineer Kevin Hammond said that in mid-December, hardfork will be held on the Cardano network, which will be another step towards updating Goguen.
Kevin Hammond stressed that hardfork should not be afraid. Unlike other blockchains, in the Cardano network during hardfork, block production does not stop, and the update itself passes automatically. This allows you to quickly and easily update and implement new features.
The new hardfork should make the Cardano network even more efficient, as well as add the token blocking function. This function allows you to define how the token is used. In an article on the company’s blog, Hammond explained:
“Locking in this case means reserving a certain number of tokens for a certain period of time so that they cannot be used for various purposes. For example, to vote or execute smart contracts. “
Also, according to the developer, soon the integration of user tokens will appear on the Cardano network, which can be used along with their own ADA cryptocurrency.
Recall that at the end of July, IOHK launched a Shelley update on the Cardano core network, which allowed users access to the stealing system. The Goguen update should add support for smart contracts.
On December 4, at 16:46 Moscow time, blocks ceased to be produced in the Solana blockchain. The problem was solved only after six hours, but the developers did not report the reason for stopping the network.
“At about 1:46 UTC on December 4, the Solana Mainnet Beta validator cluster stopped producing blocks on slot 53,180,900. The Solana team is actively working on restarting the network. There is no risk to funds, “Solana developers wrote on the social network Twitter.
After stopping the blockchain, the development team asked the validators to co-operate and restart the network. However, it took six hours to restart the Solana core network.
At the same time, the instructions that were transmitted to the validators did not indicate the reason for stopping the network. The reasons were not given later. The developers promised to publish more detailed information later.
The operability of the Solana network was restored on December 4 at 22:32 Moscow time. Validators began to produce units again, and user funds were not affected. However, the rate of cryptocurrency SOL fell by 10%.
In early October, Solana developers launched a two-way gateway to the Ethereum network, which allows you to exchange ERC-20 standard tokens for SPL tokens for use in decentralized financing applications.
