According to the decree adopted by the Parliament of Abkhazia, the Cabinet of Ministers of the country recommends banning cryptocurrency mining until June 1, 2 0 2 1.
According to Sputnik. Abkhazia, the government of Abkhazia decided to ban the production of cryptocurrencies due to the ongoing energy crisis in the republic. The ban will be valid until June 1, 2021.

Cryptocurrency mining is banned

Earlier, during a meeting with representatives of Chernomorenergo RUP of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the SGB of Abkhazia, Deputy Prime Minister Kristina Ozgan said that all farms for the extraction of digital assets in the region should stop working. According to RBC, Ozgan said that all mining farms are subject to shutdown, regardless of who owns them.

“The leadership of the republic does not make any priorities in this matter for itself. There is an installation – to turn off everyone wherever they work, “said the Deputy Prime Minister.

In addition, the Government of Abkhazia recommended maintaining the ban on mining until the completion of repair work at the Ingur hydroelectric station, which will be stopped for at least three months in February 2021.

The first ban on cryptocurrency mining was introduced in Abkhazia at the end of 2018, but in September this year, Abkhaz President Aslan Brzania said that the country’s authorities plan to remove it after developing “optimal regulatory mechanisms.”

In recent years, the Abkhaz authorities have continued to introduce mining regulation in the republic. As of September 10, 65 mining farms were officially registered in Abkhazia.
