What is important to know:

  • The public network “Movement” has officially launched in beta version.
  • The rollout continues as part of the implementation of the Ethereum-based Movement Virtual Machine (MoveVM).

Blockchain company Movement's public mainnet is preparing to launch in beta, continuing work on implementing the Movement Virtual Machine (MoveVM) on the Ethereum platform.

The mainnet launches on Monday with over $233 million in liquidity in BTC, ETH, and MOVE's native assets raised through the Cornucopia Movement program.

The Movement mainnet will provide the ability to deploy smart contracts and allow anyone to create and use the network for the first time, the Movement Network Foundation said in an email on Monday.

Move was developed by Facebook as part of its plans to create its own digital currency, which the company abandoned in early 2022.

This technology was later applied to create the Sui and Aptos layer 1 networks, as well as to extend the Movement Labs programming language to develop Ethereum layer 2.
