The TON Foundation, the organization responsible for the TON blockchain, which is linked to Telegram, has appointed Maximilian Kraun, co-founder of MoonPay, as CEO.
Crown previously served as CFO and COO at a crypto infrastructure provider and has connections to banks, payment systems, and regulators. He will continue to serve on MoonPay’s board.
The move comes a month after the TON Foundation announced it had raised $400 million in funding from venture capital firms that purchased TON tokens.
The number of active users of the TON blockchain has increased from 4 million to 41 million over the past year. However, the value of the TON token has decreased by 46% over the same period.
By 2028, it is planned to transfer 30% of active Telegram users to the blockchain.
