Bitdeer's Bitcoin Mining Chip Achieves 9.7J/TH Efficiency, A3 Mass Production Scheduled for Late 2025
Bitdeer Technologies Group announced that its SEAL03 chip achieved a record efficiency of 9.7 joules per terahash (J/TH) during testing, and also confirmed its intentions to begin mass production of Sealminer A3 mining rigs by the end of 2025.
With 9.7 J/TH Reached, Bitdeer Brings Sealminer A3 Launch Closer to 2025
The SEAL03 chip, designed for the next-generation Bitdeer Sealminer A3, has achieved an efficiency of 9.7J/TH in prototype testing under low-voltage and high-power efficiency conditions. This marks a significant advance in the energy efficiency of Bitcoin mining hardware, an important aspect in the face of shrinking margins in the industry.
The Sealminer A3 is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2025, allowing Bitdeer to establish a competitive position in the high-efficiency mining rig market. The company is also continuing development of the Sealminer A4, which targets 5 J/TH efficiency, with the first release of the chip scheduled for Q3 2025.
Infrastructure expansion is underway to support these advances. The 100 MW hydro-chiller plant in Rockdale, Texas, began receiving power in stages in March 2025, and more than 500 Sealminer AI units are already operational. In Norway, the 40 MW Tydal Phase 1 project is close to receiving regulatory approval, while the 500 MW Jigmeling facility in Bhutan remains on track to complete substation construction by the end of March 2025.
Bitdeer management noted that using its 2.6 GW global portfolio will enable it to scale high-performance computing and artificial intelligence (AI) projects. The company said it is focused on implementing its chip roadmap and infrastructure plans, highlighting ongoing discussions with U.S. partners on large-scale initiatives.
The company will present updates at several investor conferences through May 2025, including the ROTH Growth Conference and Bitcoin 2025.
