IBM has patented a blockchain-based consensus model for use in transaction processing in multiplayer games.
A patent entitled “Game Consensus Protocol for Blockchain,” obtained by IBM last week, describes a model for selecting a group of users of any game to check transactions, as well as selecting a leader to generate a block and translate it into a blockchain within that group.
“Game nodes that check the block attach their own signature to the block,” the patent says.
Since the transaction protection and verification process is a service, users who contribute to it can receive a reward. The patent describes a system that can be implemented in multiplayer games, for example, Fortnite or Call of Duty: Warzone, which involve a wide range of small transactions.
Although the model described in the patent involves the participation of users in a consensus to arrange transactions, developers note that the execution of smart contracts occurs in the blockchain and can only be carried out if the user devices have sufficient computing power.
Recall that at the beginning of the year IBM received a patent for a system for recording data on transactions off the network, and last year the company filed a patent application for a blockchain-based web browser.
Airport in the United States is testing an application on a blockchain to track cleanliness in the building.
Albany International Airport in the United States began testing an application on a blockchain to track the cleanliness of surfaces and facilities in the airport building amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Wellness Trace application, developed by General Electric (GE) in partnership with TE-FOOD and Eurofins, is based on Microsoft Azure’s corporate blockchain and aims to improve travel security during and after the coronavirus pandemic.
Wellness Trace will provide travelers with real-time information about the cleanliness of surfaces before they touch them. Visitors to the airport will be able to get this information by scanning through the phone stickers with a QR code pasted at the airport.
According to the airport administration, the experiment will last three months. Airport employees will use the application to track the cleaning protocols of the main areas and objects inside and around the building. As part of the testing, more than 45 labels with QR codes were placed.
“The use of the advanced GE Wellness Trace App is an important first step in our joint efforts to integrate new digital solutions to ensure safer travel in the world after the pandemic,”
