Key points:

  • Baanx offers non-custodial debit cards for MetaMask's Web 3 wallet and 1inch's DeFi platform.
  • The Rewards Wallet will use Circle's USDC as the primary treasury token for its rewards program.

Baanx, the creator of cryptocurrency debit cards for platforms like MetaMask and 1inch, has introduced a rewards wallet that combines in-house funding with traditional rewards and loyalty programs using technology from Circle, the developer of the USDC stablecoin.

Based on Circle's programmable wallet technology, the Baanx platform gives cryptocurrency holders access to cashback, fee discounts, sign-up bonuses, and exclusive gated opportunities, according to a press release.

The ongoing convergence of traditional payment systems with the world of stablecoins and decentralized finance (DeFi) has seen Mastercard partner with Web3 wallet MetaMask, and more recently, reports emerged of Visa in talks with Sam Altman's World Network.

As Baanx Chief Commercial Officer Simon Jones noted, the Rewards wallet offering helps bridge the gap between blockchain and everyday financial needs.

“We built the Rewards Wallet with Circle to provide unprecedented rewards for a crypto debit card, thereby incentivizing users to spend non-custodial,” Jones said in an interview. “For example, if you look at the MetaMask card, it offers up to 6% cashback in the first month.”

Circle, best known for creating the $60 billion USDC stablecoin, provides a programmable wallet infrastructure that allows features to be added to various crypto projects without having to change the user interface, Jones said.

“We are promoting USDC as the primary treasury token and incentive program within these products, as opposed to Tether [USDT],” he added.

Sanja Kohn, vice president of partnerships and business development in Europe at Circle, said in a statement: “Circle wallets provide a great foundation for the Rewards Wallet. By integrating this technology, Baanx brings real value to cryptocurrency users in new and exciting ways.”
