3 meta-universe tokens to bet on in 2022
The year 2007 was a turning point in consumer technology when Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) showed off its original smartphone, the iPhone. Now it’s hard to imagine the world without it. The same could be said a few decades later for the meta-universe, a three-dimensional version of the Internet, according to Business Insider.
While the meta-universe concept has been around for years, Facebook’s decision to change its name to Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:FB) has made the idea mainstream today.
But it’s also possible that the meta-universe will go down in history as the 3D TV version of the current decade, which didn’t generate widespread interest and was quickly forgotten.
“It could have been something like ‘flying cars’ of the ’60s,” said Brian Mosoff, CEO of Ether Capital, referring to the futuristic technology that seemed unrealistic to many.
He’s somewhat pessimistic about the meta-universe, though, even though many virtual worlds are known to run on the ethereum blockchain, which his company fervently supports.
Proponents of the meta-universe promise that in the future it will change the way people work, play and communicate, Mosoff doubts that the technology will justify all the hype surrounding it and become something more than a fad.
Longtime supporter of cryptocurrencies is optimistic about meta-universes
Unlike Mosoff, who thinks the idea won’t catch on, David Gokhstein, a longtime supporter of cryptocurrencies who runs Gokhshtein Media, believes in the meta-universe. He believes that, in time, virtual worlds will become places where people will shop and communicate.
With world events happening because of the pandemic, people are turning to social media more often to make themselves known because the Internet does not have the social restrictions that apply in real life.
“You stay at home or work remotely, go on social media and start socializing. It all started with Clubhouse. Then came Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) Spaces. Now there’s a meta-universe.”
The need to connect with other people won’t go anywhere as the coronavirus spreads, he says, except that parties will be held in a metacommuniverse where social distance isn’t required.
Meta-universe and the cryptocurrencies associated with it are unlikely to disappear overnight
If many popular brands, such as Nike (NYSE:NKE), Adidas (DE:ADSGN) who will set up their stores in the metaconsciousness to sell products. People will shop and spend time in the metaconsciousness. This is a great opportunity for companies to advertise themselves.
So his conclusion is this: whether you like it or not, the meta-universe and the cryptocurrencies associated with it are unlikely to disappear overnight.
What stands out against the backdrop of the meta universe are altcoins that include both established emerging market leaders and promising newcomers: Decentraland, GALA/USD and The Sandbox.
