Crypto observers on Monday speculated that World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a decentralized finance platform backed by U.S. President Donald Trump and his family, may be testing its anticipated dollar-backed stablecoin before launching it to the general public.

Earlier today, blockchain analysts noted a sharp increase in activity for a token known as World Liberty Financial USD (USD1) on blockchain monitoring platforms Etherscan and BscScan. Blockchain data indicates that USD1 was implemented earlier this month on the Ethereum and BNB Chain networks, and that multiple transactions involving the token have been recorded over the past few weeks.

Some of the transfers included addresses linked to Wintermute, a major digital asset trading and market maker, and cryptocurrency custodian BitGo, according to information from Arkham Intelligence. The token currently has a supply of about 3.5 million on Ethereum and the BNB Chain, according to data from Etherscan and BscScan.

Changpeng CZ Zhao, the founder of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, brought attention to the token by “welcoming” the project to the BNB Chain in a post with the profile picture of USD1 BscScan, which he shared with his 10 million followers. He later mentioned that the post had sparked a wave of copycats looking to take advantage of the newfound attention.
