Key points:
- WisdomTree is expanding its WisdomTree Connect investment platform beyond Ethereum to add Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, and Optimism.
- The platform currently offers 13 tokenized funds with different investment strategies such as money market, equity index and fixed income, all of which are registered with the SEC.
- Asset tokenization could create a trillion-dollar market as traditional financial institutions increasingly migrate their instruments to blockchain to achieve operational advantages.
Asset management company WisdomTree (WT) is deepening its asset tokenization journey by expanding its institutional platform WisdomTree Connect to include 13 tokenized funds across five blockchain networks, it said Thursday.
Previously limited to Ethereum, the platform now supports Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, and Optimism. Investors can interact with funds using USD or Circle’s USDC stablecoin, with assets available in third-party and self-custodial wallets.
With these additions, WisdomTree Connect now offers “the most comprehensive suite of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) available to institutions,” the spokesperson said.
The portfolio includes a tokenized money market fund, equity index funds, fixed income funds, and asset allocation funds. The WisdomTree Government Money Market Digital Fund (WTGXX) offers exposure to short-term government securities. Equity index funds, such as the WisdomTree 500 Digital Fund (SPXUX) and the WisdomTree Technology & Innovation 100 Digital Fund (TECHX), track major stock market indices. The fixed income sector includes offerings tied to various maturities of Treasury bonds and inflation-protected securities.
All offerings are registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the Investment Company Act of 1940.
Asset tokenization is rapidly gaining momentum among asset managers as they increasingly deploy traditional financial instruments on the blockchain to achieve operational benefits. It is a fast-growing sector with the potential to become a trillion-dollar market as all types of real-world assets (RWAs), including real estate, bonds, and loans, migrate to the blockchain.
