Ripple, a blockchain services provider for businesses and closely associated with the XRP Ledger (XRP), announced on Wednesday that it will integrate its stablecoin into the cross-border payments system to promote the adoption of Ripple USD (RLUSD).
The company noted that some Ripple Payments customers, including cross-border payment providers BKK Forex and iSend, are already using the stablecoin to streamline their treasury operations. Ripple intends to continue to expand the availability of its token to its payment customers.
Additionally, crypto exchange Kraken has added RLUSD to its platform following recent listings on LMAX and Bitstamp.
Ripple entered the rapidly growing stablecoin market with its short-term cryptocurrency backed by U.S. government bonds after receiving approval from the New York State Department of Financial Services in December.
Since then, RLUSD's market cap has reached $244 million, up 87% in the last month, with monthly transfer volumes reaching $860 million, according to rwa.xyz.
Jack McDonald, Ripple’s senior vice president of stablecoins, said in a comment that RLUSD’s growth is “ahead of our internal forecasts” as adoption spreads across various financial sectors. Ripple is also partnering with NGOs exploring stablecoins to better distribute aid, he added.
