The brokerage firm offers bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), and litecoin (LTC) to any U.S. citizen over the age of 18. The assets are held in Fidelity Digital Assets and are kept in a cold wallet. The cryptocurrency IRA product has no fees, and clients can invest in a Roth IRA, traditional IRA, or rollover IRA, according to Fidelity’s website.
The new product comes amid growing interest in cryptocurrency among financial advisors. A recent survey from TMX Vetta Fi found that 57% of advisors intend to increase their investments in crypto ETFs, although they are primarily focused on crypto stock ETFs.
